Approvals and authorities
Human 1mpact resolves approvals by authority, not by job title. Designate who holds each authority today, then set the thresholds that decide when a request needs Finance or Executive sign off.
No People Authority designated
Nearly every People request needs a People Authority. If you have no dedicated People leader yet, designate an Acting People Authority.
No Executive Authority designated
Terminations, reductions in force, executive compensation and policy publication all require Executive Authority.
Authority registry
Authority is designated deliberately. Nothing here is inferred from a job title.

Thresholds
These decide when a request stops being routine. Startup defaults are already set.
Percent increase that makes a compensation change material.
Annualized payroll impact that pulls in Executive Authority.
Severance at or above this adds Finance Authority to a termination.
Sign on amount that makes an offer an exception.
Equity value that makes an offer or promotion an exception.
Fully loaded cost that raises off plan headcount to critical.
Any proposal above the band maximum requires Executive Authority.
Adds Finance Authority to offers that are otherwise standard.
Lets specifically authorized users carry out an urgent decision before the full chain finishes. Every use requires a written reason and a People and Executive review afterwards.
Inserts a legal reviewer between People and Executive approval.
Adds Board Authority to executive termination workflows.
Never applies to sensitive or critical work.
What each request requires
Risk classification decides the controls. Conditional steps only apply when your thresholds are crossed.
